Access Elevator and Lift | Extreme Makeover Home Edition Story

Those might only be three small words, but people nationwide recognize them and know exactly what they mean - somewhere in the US Ty Pennington and his crew, along with local volunteers are getting ready to introduce one deserving family to their new home! That's exactly what happened recently in Erie, PA when The Extreme Makeover Home Edition team joined forces with Maleno Development to rebuild a wonderful new 3700 square-foot home for Clara Ward and her family. Clara is a 70 year-old, mother who has dedicated her life to aiding abused and neglected children by offering them food, clothing and shelter as well as teaching them and offering them opportunities to enjoy life through play and activities they would otherwise not be exposed to due to their life situations. She nurtures numerous children from her neighborhood, located in the heart of the city of Erie, despite being wheelchair bound due to a rare degenerative muscular disease. Clara lives with her daughter, Cynthia Ward-Moore in a home that has been falling apart for some time and has also been vandalized causing further destruction. Despite these hardships, Clara founded the "Youth Development and Family Center" which she operates from her home providing care and love to these less fortunate children.

During the construction, Sean Fenton and a crew from Access Elevator and Lift, Inc., were called upon to install a lift for Clara allowing her access to the second floor of her home.
